A big shift (this might ruffle some feathers but okay)

I made a big shift in my thinking when I learned to think for myself. It sounds redundant but stay with me for a minute.

All my life I was told what to think and how to think about things, starting with my relationship in my religion. I grew up in a methodist church and things were extremely strict and orderly.

I believe in order but only when there is freedom attached to it. I don't believe that God created us in the spirit of fear in fact in The phrase "God has not given us a spirit of fear" is a common biblical quote, specifically from 2 Timothy 1:7, which emphasizes that God has gifted us with power, love, and a sound mind, not timidity.

Why am I mentioning this? Because I feel it deserves to be mentioned. I'm constantly bombarded with christian views on the practice of yoga - people demonize it yet they have no idea what they are actually talking about.

"Yoga is demonic, that's the devils work, yoga is a religion" - all false and quite ignorant to be totally transparent. I might loose a few folks with this blog but that's ok this is where I stand and when you don't stand for something you'll fall for anything.

I first got into the practice at a time when christianity was my sole form of worship and I too was a bit apprehensive based on what I'd been taught in the past. I was okay with doing the movements but when it came to chanting I pulled the plug but how can I do one without the other? I desired a well rounded practice.

Yoga itself is not a religion, it is a practice and way of life. Yoga itself isn't demonic and if you believe the people that practice are demonic stop eating their food and wearing their clothing. Everything we get in America is imported.... remember?

Getting back to the point (clearly I'm passionate about this) I started to research further into the meanings behind the mantras. I learned that they were praising God too, the same way that gospels praise God. Mantras are consecrated sounds that are meant to raise the vibration and heal. Haven't you listened to a gospel song and been healed or energized? I know I have!

I left my fears back in 2015 and started living, the way that I believe that my creator wanted me to.

I'm not here to contradict your way of worship at all, my only point in sharing this post is to educate those of you that judge me without researching.

The bible says love your neighbor as well as yourself. The bible speaks so much on love yet demonizing someone for the way that they live their life doesn't come off loving at all.

The same God created you just like the same God created the people all over the world.

Let's grow together!
